What's in a Title? Freaking Everything.
This book titling business is hard. Writing a book... I've got this. Done and Done. Trying to title it... Shoot me now. Most self-published or indie authors would probably agree. You're not only trying to pick something that encompasses your book, but it should be original and intriguing and perfect and simply make sense. Titling one book is hard enough, but titling 3 that need to have a common link and still encompass a story...that has proved to be the HARDEST for me. It's taken me at least 6 months to come up with a title for Faylinn #3 and it wasn't even me who threw the word out there. Thank you friends and family for all your suggestions!
In case you missed it on Facebook I titled Faylinn #3. So, I figured now was a good time as any to give you a little insight as to why I've chosen the titles I have for the Faylinn Novels thus far. I don't know if anyone has actually caught on to the common theme with the Faylinn titles. Maybe with the reveal of the third one it will all makes more sense.
Light.
Kaleidoscope (Faylinn #1): You typically need light to look through a kaleidoscope and see all the different colors and shapes. And every time you see something different. Calliope has to look at life in a different light with each passing day. She learns more and more about herself and her background as the story progresses and information changes and unfolds.
Ember (Faylinn #2): It probably speaks for itself. Embers emit light. They are what's remains after a fire has died down, but if not taken care of properly can reignite. For the sake of not adding spoilers for those of you who have not read it yet, I'll let those who have read it mull it over and come up with your own conclusions.
And for the final one!
Luminary (Faylinn #3):
1. A person who inspires or influences others.
2. An object, such as a celestial body, that gives light.
You will just have to see how this title will play out when the third one comes!
